A Salute to Those Who Stand Up

What kind of a people do they think we are? Is it possible they do not realize that we shall never cease to persevere against them until they have been taught a lesson which they and the world will never forget.  Here we are together, facing a group of mighty foes who seek our ruin.  Here we are together defending all that, to free men, is dear.

Sir Winston Churchill’s 1942 “Masters of Our Fate” speech to Congress.

It was this day one year ago when two ladies stood up, spoke up, and refused to sit down. They carried their message to the media and word spread. Others have now joined their cause.

We salute those two ladies who stood up and refused to shut up. We salute those who joined in by filing suit, picketing, speaking out and raising awareness.  We also salute those “certain plaintiffs’ attorneys” who seek not spoils and plunder, but are diligent in their work for truth and justice.

  1. This past year has been both the longest and shortest of my life.

In times like these you discover who your true friends are. You discover not only your own strength but others as well.

I remember the threats, the harrasing phone calls, the looks that were made at me and Trudy in the grocery, at work, at church

But when you stand for something you believe in, whether you are wrong or right, you are at least standing. Making no decision or taking no stand is in fact making a decision and taking a stand

I have made many new friendships, learned a lot and have grown in ways I never drempt possible. These new relationships have been blessings each and every one

Kathleen Lee made me promise her to not give up, to be her voice when she could not. Dr Lee, I love you and miss you and will always honor my promise to you

October 29 is a special day for many reasons- history has been made on this day in 1941 and again in 2014.

But Churchill said it best …

“Courage is going from failure to failure without loosing enthusiasm”. Yes many see the retirees as failing to accomplish change. I do not. I see it as courage

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the COURAGE to continue that counts “.

Thank you SRHS Watch SRHS Hopes and God bless!
